No longer just construction sites and fencing, Fox Haven Square keeps adding names to its tenant sign.

The 7.5-acre mixed-use development next to the old Charlestowne Mall site is gradually turning into a bustling dining, fitness, and entertainment hub on the east side, with more new openings expected soon.

Here's where things stand.

Now open

Simple EJ’s Kitchen and Tap and fire + wine were the first restaurants to open their doors.

Glow Lagree is also now up and running. The fitness studio offers low-impact strength classes designed around slow, controlled movements rather than high-intensity reps.

OS Salon also opened in June, the fourth location for local siblings who grew up spending time at the old Charlestowne Mall. Open Tuesday through Saturday, the full-service AVEDA salon is located in the development's north building.

Opening this fall

The work-in-progress Lou Malnati’s on Monday, Aug. 17

Construction is underway on a new Lou Malnati's, which will take over the former On The Border building at the edge of Route 64. The Chicago deep-dish chain signed its lease this spring and is aiming for a late fall opening, with seating for 218 people indoors, a private dining room, a full bar, and a patio.

Lou Malnati's says the location should create 80 to 100 jobs once it's up and running.

Swank Coffee & Wine Lounge, from the team behind Fulla Beans in Itasca, is targeting a mid-September opening. The owners describe a space that aims to be more than a quick coffee stop, with a fireplace and couch seating near the entrance.

The menu will shift through the day, from pastries and coffee in the morning to sandwiches in the afternoon — plus a nice wine collection. The team is currently hiring.

Rosebud Steakhouse, the longtime Chicago steakhouse, has announced an expected August grand opening, bringing another downtown Chicago dining tradition to the Tri-Cities.

Solaie Wellness Spa is planning a high-end wellness and aesthetics practice at the development, with services like anti-aging treatments, hormone therapy, and Botox. Recent photos show construction progressing and social media posts suggest a grand opening is coming soon.

Still on the way

Taco Mucho, a family-run taqueria with an existing location in Oak Park, is also planned for the development. No timeline or opening date has been announced.

And the most ambitious project is still to come: Harbor House Paddle & Provisions, a three-story sports and entertainment venue from Parker Hospitality, the Chicago group behind The Hampton Social restaurants.

The concept is expected to include the area's first padel courts (a racket sport blending tennis and squash), indoor pickleball courts, duckpin bowling lanes, table tennis, darts, and outdoor games like bocce. Plans also feature a market café and wine bar on the ground floor, a sports bar with bowling and darts on the second floor, and padel courts, a stage, and lawn seating on the rooftop.

Between new establishments welcoming first-time guests and businesses anticipating fall openings, Fox Haven Square will be worth keeping an eye on in the months ahead.
