The work-in-progress Lou Malnati’s on Monday, Aug. 17

A new Lou Malnati's is preparing to open in St. Charles, with construction now underway on a 6,200-square-foot restaurant in the Fox Haven Square development at 3050 E. Main Street.

According to a news release, the Chicago deep-dish chain signed its lease this spring and expects to open by fall 2026.

Here's what to know:

  • The location: The restaurant is taking over the former On The Border building, a standalone spot at the edge of the new Fox Haven Square shopping and dining center, rather than moving into one of the newer buildings on the main property.

  • More than takeout: Plans show there will be a main dining room, a private dining area, a full bar, and an outdoor patio, with seating for 218 guests indoors plus additional patio seating.

  • The timeline: Renovation work is expected to take about five months, putting the opening on track for late fall 2026.

“We’ve been really encouraged by the response from the St. Charles community since announcing this location, and we’re excited to officially begin construction,” said Julie Younglove-Webb, CEO of Lou Malnati’s.

Lou Malnati’s said the new location is projected to create 80 to 100 jobs. The chain, which has operated for 55 years, has 70 locations across the Chicagoland area, Wisconsin, and Arizona.

“The City is thrilled to welcome Lou Malnati’s to the St. Charles community,” said Derek Conley, St. Charles’ Economic Development Director. “The east side continues to attract new investment, and Lou Malnati’s is a key addition to the emerging Fox Haven Square corridor, helping strengthen the area as a destination.”

Once open, the location will offer Lou Malnati's full menu and services, including dine-in, carryout, delivery, and catering.
