The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps Community Center in St. Charles announced that Mark and Sarah Nottle have joined the team as the center’s new Envoys (the organization’s term for leaders who run local ministry and community services).
The center serves residents throughout St. Charles, Geneva, and Batavia, offering food assistance, family and youth programs, and other basic-needs support.
According to a news release, Sarah brings four years of leadership from The Salvation Army Canton 360 Life Center in Canton, Illinois. Sarah led significant growth for the center across key programs, including expanding the food pantry and youth programs to reach record numbers of individuals and families throughout Fulton County.
"Sarah helped transform the Canton 360 Life Center into a model for our division," said Lt. Colonel Jonathan Rich, The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Divisional Commander.
The release also notes that Mark brings more than two decades of experience in youth development, camping ministry, and community service leadership. Most recently, he served as Camp Director at South Side Mission's Camp Kearney in Canton, Illinois, where he oversaw summer camp and outdoor education programs.
According to the center, Mark and Sarah bring a shared commitment to ministry, youth development, and community engagement that will help strengthen The Salvation Army's mission throughout the Fox Valley.
The community center’s role
The St. Charles weekly food pantry is one of the largest drivers of service across the Fox Valley region, helping power more than 31,000 food pantry visits and reaching more than 29,000 people this past year, according to the news release.
Established in 1951, the community center also provides emergency financial assistance, youth programs, and holiday support for local families. The multicultural social service center is open to anyone seeking support, from food and warmth to survival supplies, rental assistance, and more.
This October, the Tri-City Corps Community Center will celebrate its 75th anniversary, marking three-quarters of a century of service to residents of the Tri-Cities and surrounding communities.
