Two Kane County road projects are kicking off the week of June 1. One is a full closure and one is a multi-month resurfacing program that will affect several roads across the area.

Here's what to know:

  • Keslinger Road closure: The stretch between La Fox Road and Harley Road will close starting the week of June 1 to allow construction of a new concrete roundabout at the Bunker Road intersection. The project also includes a new storm sewer system and roadway lighting. Drivers can follow a posted detour via Peck Road, IL Route 38, IL Route 47, and Hughes Road. Completion is expected by November 2026.

  • Train station access: Commuters heading to the LaFox Metra station from the north can still get there via the Bunker Road connection at La Fox Road, but should plan for extra travel time.

  • County resurfacing program: Starting the same week, Kane County crews will begin milling and resurfacing eight road segments across the area, including Hughes Road (IL Route 47 to Fabyan Parkway), Randall Road (near Keslinger Road to IL Route 38), and LaFox Road (Bunker Road to IL Route 64). All listed roads will stay open, but expect temporary daily lane closures during work hours, generally 7AM to 5PM Monday through Saturday. The full program is expected to wrap up in approximately six months.

The projects are weather-dependent and subject to scheduling changes. Drivers should allow extra time and watch for flaggers in active work zones.
