If you’re a fan of donning lederhosen while hoisting a stein, it’s your time to shine.
Four local breweries and beer gardens are hosting Oktoberfest celebrations this weekend — one of the full weekend, and three on Saturday. That means you can pick one for a quick pint and/or spend the whole day at another.
Here's what to know:
Brother Chimp in St. Charles: Brother Chimp Brewing starts things off Friday with its 7th annual Oktoberfest, which runs Sept. 25–27. The weekend includes the release of its Oktoberfest beer, plus food and live music every day.
Penrose in Geneva: Penrose Brewing's Oktoberfest runs 1-9PM Saturday outside its Stevens Street taproom. Expect beer, seltzers, food, music, family-friendly games, and a stein hoisting tournament. General admission is $10, or $20 with a souvenir stein.
Obscurity in Elburn: Obscurity Brewing hosts Prostoberfest from noon to 10PM Saturday in its beer garden. One of the main attractions is a new Prostoberfest beer brewed just for the event. There's also traditional music, Oktoberfest food, a stein-holding contest, and a best outfit contest.
Sidecar Supper Club in Batavia: Sidecar Supper Club & Beer Garden on River Street opens its Oktoberfest at 4PM Saturday with schnitzel, brats, Märzen beer, and games. HOSS takes the beer garden stage for live music at 8PM.
