Kane County’s Forest Preserve District is moving forward with a land deal in Campton Hills, securing open space next to where the 900-home La Fox of Campton Hills development has been approved.
The plan covers hundreds of acres and includes both a purchase and land donations, with local groups partnering in the effort.
Key points:
The district voted to buy 340 acres from Shodeen for just over $9 million, with another 75 acres donated.
The property lies south of Route 38 and west of Brundige Road.
About 67 acres will be swapped with Campton Township, which has a history of preserving land in the area.
The deal comes as Campton Hills recently annexed 962 acres for the La Fox of Campton Hills development.
