📸: A rendering from the approved plans for the Fox Haven Square development
Mayor Lora Vitek and several city officials presented at the St. Charles Chamber’s annual City Update event last week.
The focus? Current and future development projects. Let’s check in on the status of some of these initiatives:
New Chick-fil-A: A grand opening is planned on Thursday (10/17) for the recently completed restaurant occupying the former Chili’s location on East Main Street.
Fox Haven Square: The approved plan includes four commercial restaurant/retail buildings, an outdoor plaza and pickleball courts. Timeline for completion is unclear.
New residential: East-side developments include the 167-unit Charlestowne Lakes (in progress), the 50-home Munhall Glen subdivision, and Springs at St. Charles — a 320-unit project that encompasses 27 acres and is expected to be ready in early 2025.
Prairie Center: Some work is complete and some buildings remain under construction in what will be a mixed-use development featuring commercial and residential. It’s located on the property of the former St. Charles Mall on the west side.
Emblem: This proposed 360-unit residential development on 28 acres behind Meijer will be discussed by the Plan Commission on October 22.
According to the city’s website, the group that was planning to redevelop Charlestown Mall decided not to move forward. We’ll keep an eye for updates on that front.
