A community staple is coming back this fall.

The 2026 Fox Valley Walk to End Alzheimer's takes place on Saturday, September 26 at Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles, bringing together walkers, caregivers, families, and supporters for one of the most meaningful annual events in the area.

Here's what to know:

  • More than a decade strong: The Fox Valley walk has been held in St. Charles for over ten years, typically drawing around 1,200 participants and 100-plus volunteers for a full day of activities, live music, and community resources.

  • Who it's for: Whether you're caring for someone with Alzheimer's, have lost someone to the disease, or just want to show up for the cause — this event welcomes everyone. Local caregiving facilities will have resources on-site for families navigating the diagnosis.

  • The bigger picture: Over 7 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer's, and nearly 12 million provide unpaid care for someone with the disease or another form of dementia. One in three older adults dies with Alzheimer's or a related condition.

  • How to register: Sign up and learn more at act.alz.org/FoxValley. The event is free to participate; walkers are encouraged to fundraise.

The walk is supported by the St. Charles Park District and the St. Charles Police Department. If you're looking for something meaningful to do on a fall Saturday morning, this is a worthwhile cause.
