On June 29, Wahlburgers announced on social media that it has closed its St. Charles location effective immediately.

The closure ends a six-year run for the celebrity-backed burger chain at 825 S. Randall Road near Route 38 and Randall Road. The company says a new location is in the works, but no details have been released.

Here's what to know:

Why it closed: The Facebook post from the St. Charles location says the current lease has come to an end. No other reason was given.

New location coming: The announcement suggested that a new location is "coming soon." The statement did not include a location, timeline, or other specifics.

How it started: Wahlburgers opened its St. Charles location in July 2020, with local resident Donnie Wahlberg on hand for the opening alongside his wife Jenny McCarthy. The chain was founded by chef Paul Wahlberg in partnership with his brothers Mark and Donnie.

We’ll update this story when details about the new location are announced.
