If you’ve got old or unused medications piling up at home, this weekend’s a good time to clear them out safely.
On Saturday, October 25, police departments in Batavia and Geneva — along with Northwestern Medicine in St. Charles — will take part in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, offering free, anonymous drop-off sites from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Here’s where to go:
Batavia Police Department – 100 N. Island Avenue, Batavia: Collecting tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid prescription drugs (no sharps, syringes, or illicit substances). Liquids must stay sealed.
Geneva Police Department – 20 Police Plaza, Geneva: Accepting prescriptions, OTC medications, vitamins, and pet meds. Vape pens are allowed only if batteries are removed. No ointments, needles, or thermometers.
Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care – 2900 Foxfield Road, St. Charles: Drive-up collection site accepting unused prescription medications and opioids. Free Narcan Nasal Spray will also be available on-site.
The event runs Saturday, October 25, from 10AM-2PM
Disposal is free and anonymous — no questions asked. Take Back Day has removed over 9,000 tons of medication from circulation since its start.
Visit DEATakeBack.com to find more drop-off locations.
Proper disposal keeps medications out of the wrong hands — and out of the water supply.
