Thrive Together: Serving Well, Loving Wisely
Saturday, January 31, 2026 9-11:30AM | Fellowship Hall | St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Geneva
Christians are called to serve in the world — but serving across lines of class, race, religion, and culture is often more complicated than we expect.
What happens when good intentions lead to unintended harm? How do we discern the difference between help that truly empowers and efforts that may miss the mark?
This upcoming gathering — Thrive Together: Serving Well, Loving Wisely — offers a thoughtful and faith-filled opportunity to explore how Christians are called to serve in the world. Through teaching, reflection, and conversation, we will consider how to engage in service that genuinely supports and empowers communities in need.
Our guest speaker, Brian Howell, is a Professor of Anthropology at Wheaton College. Over his 25-year career, Dr. Howell has written extensively on short-term missions, race in the United States, and Christian service. He will help us reflect on how missions and service can address both immediate needs and deeper root causes, while considering how service works in the lives of believers.
The cost per registrant is $20. Breakfast will be served. Nursery care will be available for infants through 5 years old.
Join us for this important morning of learning, reflection, and conversation as we seek to serve faithfully, humbly, and wisely — together.
All are welcome.
