Local authorities uncovered a complex criminal operation in St. Charles Township involving stolen luxury vehicles, firearms and narcotics in late January. The investigation began when a GPS tracker on a stolen vehicle led deputies to the property.
Key points
Initial discovery: On 12/28, Kane County deputies tracked a stolen Mercedes-Benz G550 to a driveway on Badger Court, where additional stolen vehicles were found.
Evidence seized: A search revealed several luxury cars, including a Range Rover, Tesla, Audi, and BMW, along with tools for altering vehicle identification numbers (VINs).
Further search results: Authorities later recovered weapons, drugs, financial documents, and equipment used in criminal activity from the property and suspect’s vehicle.
Next steps: Eric C. Karkowski, the property’s resident, faces more than 20 charges, with additional investigations and potential charges underway.
