πΈπͺ VΓ€lkommen: Swedish Days set to kick off

According to the original announcement in 1949, Genevaβs first Swedish Days celebration featured an βatmosphere as Swedish as the merchants of Geneva can make it.β
The event β which featured a Swedish costume contest, Swedish folk dancing, a smorgasbord Scandinavian dinner and live entertainment β was the evolution of an existing yearly celebration:
βIn the past the annual celebration has been Geneva Days, however, in that a majority of the people in this area are of Swedish origin, we have decided upon a Swedish theme for our annual celebration beginning this year.β

The July 1, 1949 edition of The Geneva Republican.
