Big Hearts of Fox Valley, a local nonprofit based in St. Charles, announced the launch of its annual Back-to-School Program, an initiative aimed at ensuring children in District 303 start the school year with confidence, dignity, and the tools they need to succeed.
This year, the organization has set an ambitious goal: to support 200 local students with new backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies — which they say many families struggle to afford during the back-to-school season.
Big Hearts of Fox Valley is stepping in to alleviate the stress of the new school year in the midst of rising costs of living, unexpected hardships, and financial instability — so kids aren’t at a disadvantage.
“This program is about more than pencils and backpacks,” said Jennifer Mobley, Executive Director of Big Hearts of Fox Valley. “It’s about making sure kids feel prepared, included, and confident walking into their classroom on day one.”
How the Community Can Help
Big Hearts of Fox Valley is calling on local residents, businesses, and community partners to help make this year’s goal possible. The organization outlined three simple ways to get involved:
1. Host a School Supply Drive (June or July)
Schools, churches, businesses, and community groups can organize collection drives for backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, folders, and other essential supplies.
2. Make a Monetary Donation
Cash donations allow Big Hearts to purchase supplies in bulk and fill critical gaps where needed most. Every dollar goes directly toward supporting local children.
3. Donate Supplies
Individuals and organizations can directly impact a student by donating new school-ready items. Shop their Amazon Wishlist and have items shipped directly to them or drop off items at your convenience.
Join the Movement
The Back-to-School Program is powered entirely by community generosity. Whether it’s a box of pencils or a financial gift, every contribution helps a child walk into school feeling seen, supported, and ready to learn.
