The St. Charles Arts Council has several community art events lined up this spring and summer, offering a mix of hands-on projects and local showcases.

  • Paint the Riverside returns Saturday, May 10, from 9 AM to noon at Walnut and Riverside Avenues. The public is invited to help paint a new street mural designed by local artist Dennis Pryber. No registration is required, and supplies will be provided. Face painting for kids, coffee, and donuts will also be available during the event.

  • Kaleidoscope of Color, a juried gallery exhibit featuring work from 49 Illinois artists, runs May 7 through July 6 at the Arts Resource Center (121 N. 2nd St., Suite H). The gallery is open Wednesday–Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM. A public artist reception will be held Saturday, May 24 from 5–7 PM during the St. Charles Fine Art Show.

  • The Community Banner Art Project is back as well. Participants can purchase and pick up a blank banner between May 24 and June 7, paint it at home, and return it in July. Finished banners will be displayed on fencing in Mt. St. Mary Park from July 17 through September 28. Banners cost $25 for members or $30 for non-members and are available at stcharlesartscouncil.org.

All three events are supported by the St. Charles Arts Council, with help from local partners including the City of St. Charles and the Park District.
