According to the St. Charles District 303 newsletter, holiday generosity showed up in a big way this month. Local nonprofits, schools, and volunteers teamed up to support hundreds of families with gifts, food, and care packages during the busiest stretch of the season.
Here’s what you should know:
Drive-thru gift pickup: Big Hearts of Fox Valley supported 245 District 303 families, providing personalized Christmas gifts for 597 children through its annual Santa’s Drive-Thru event in St. Charles.
Happy kids: Each child received a customized gift bag with about 15 items — including clothing, toys, books, crafts, teen essentials, and a family board game — plus grocery store gift cards to help with holiday meals.
Communitywide effort: More than 1,200 volunteer hours went into organizing and distributing nearly 600 gift bags, with the St. Charles Police and Fire Departments helping manage traffic and Mayor Clint Hull assisting with loading gifts.
Helping hands at schools: On December 10, District 303 staff, families, and students assembled nearly 500 snack-bag care packages for students and families in need, decorating each bag with positive messages and artwork before they were sent to schools.
Taken together, the two efforts delivered direct holiday support to well over 1,000 local children and families.
