According to a news release, St. Charles Mayor Clint Hull, acting as Liquor Control Commissioner, enforced local liquor ordinances for Global Brew Tap House at the May 18 St. Charles Liquor Control Commission meeting.

Global Brew Tap House, located at 2100 Prairie Street, was cited on April 10, 2026, for the following municipal ordinance violations:

Count I: Failure to timely file tax returns and remit the City alcohol tax for the following periods:

  • December 2024

  • August 2025

  • September 2025

  • October 2025

  • November 2025

  • December 2025

  • January 2025

  • February 2025

Count II: Failure to timely pay late fees associated with unpaid alcohol taxes for August 2025, September 2025, October 2025, November 2026, December 2025, January 2026, and February 2026.

Count III: Unpermitted Construction and Code Violations – Illegal buildout of a kitchen and installation of commercial kitchen equipment without first obtaining the required permit.

According to the city, the initial hearing took place during the April 20, 2026, Liquor Control Commission meeting. Global Brew appeared before the Liquor Control Commission and requested a continuance to May 18, 2026, which was granted by the Liquor Control Commission.

On May 18, 2026, the city says Global Brew failed to appear for the hearing and failed to file an Answer, respond to the Compliant, or provide a completed Arraignment form.

Global Brew's response

Global Brew's management released a statement on Tuesday disputing the city's account. The bar's owners say the city alcohol taxes have been paid in full and that a miscommunication about the May 18 hearing date (not a deliberate no-show) led to the judgment against them.

They also say they had already submitted architectural designs and contractor documentation to bring the unpermitted kitchen work into compliance before the revocation occurred. The statement highlights a 14-month Prairie Street construction project that it says blocked access to their shopping plaza as a major factor in the business's financial struggles, suggesting that the city offered no relief during that period.

Global Brew's team thanked the St. Charles community for nearly seven years of support and urged residents to continue backing local businesses.
