Several concerned parents attended the St. Charles District 303 board meeting last week, demanding changes after what they described as repeated safety incidents at Fox Ridge Elementary and other district schools.

Parents shared emotional accounts of classrooms being cleared, children coming home frightened, and teachers struggling to maintain order under current behavioral-support policies.

Key things to know:

  • Parents say “reverse evacuations” — where classes are emptied due to a disruptive or violent student — have become frequent at Fox Ridge.

  • Multiple families described students and staff as feeling very unsafe, and said some children now fear going to school.

  • Several speakers called for restoring the district’s former “Strive” behavioral program and improving support for both teachers and students.

  • Parents also criticized communication lapses, saying concerns were ignored or minimized by administrators.

Many of these parents urged the board to take immediate steps to ensure every child’s right to feel safe at school. The board’s policy is to listen intently but not respond to public comment.

Watch the meeting recording (remarks about school safety begin at the 1:12:00 mark).
