Smarty Pants Cafe, a science-themed coffee shop located at 817 N. Randall Rd. in Batavia, has received a $2,500 grant from the STEM Next Opportunity Fund to establish a Teen Science Café.
This grant will support the creation of a dedicated space for young science enthusiasts to engage in stimulating discussions, hands-on activities, and networking with local STEM clubs.
Smarty Pants Cafe plans to collaborate closely with local teen STEM clubs to curate events that resonate with the interests and aspirations of the community's youth. The café is also inviting ideas and suggestions from these clubs to ensure the events are engaging and relevant.
The Teen Science Café at Smarty Pants Cafe will provide a welcoming environment where teens can explore the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Events will be held regularly at the café, featuring guest speakers, interactive presentations, and opportunities for teens to dive deep into the subjects for which they’re passionate.
"We are incredibly excited to be the recipients of this grant and to have the opportunity to foster a love of science among teens in our community," said Mike, Owner of Smarty Pants Cafe. "This café will be a hub for young minds to explore, learn, and connect with like-minded peers and professionals."
