Admit it — at one point or another, you dreamed of becoming a rock star.

For kids in the Tri-Cities area with similar dreams, there’s an organization that can help make it actually happen.

School of Rock Geneva has been educating and training aspiring musicians in Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles and surrounding communities for nearly a decade.

While this performance-based music school offers programs for students as young as three, traditional music lessons begin at age seven. According to General Manager Tracy Leggett, that’s when things start to get truly interesting.

“School of Rock Geneva stands out by actively encouraging students aged seven and up to join our acclaimed Rock Band programs,” Leggett said.

She gives much of the credit to music director Bailey Poczos, who serves as a great mentor and sets their students up to thrive.

The most accomplished students — once they’ve completed a rigorous audition process — can join the school's elite House Band. This talented group goes on to perform at local festivals and even prominent venues and events like Milwaukee Summerfest and The House of Blues Chicago.

And right now, they’re looking for bookings at local venues.

For establishments that host musical performances in the area, this represents an excellent opportunity to support the youth music ecosystem and showcase talented performers. The current House Band lineup features some of School of Rock's brightest stars.

In fact, the company’s national headquarters handpicked three of the band members last year to represent the company on some of the country’s biggest stages.

“They had the opportunity to play at venues like Red Rocks Park, and The Chicago Lollapalooza Stage as well as many others across the country as some of the finest emerging School of Rock musicians,” Leggett said. “This accolade is only bestowed on one percent of students from School of Rock worldwide!”

The group’s current setlist spans genres from classics by Led Zeppelin and The Jackson 5 to modern hits by Childish Gambino, Jennifer Hudson and more.

You never know — in a couple of decades, you may fondly recall the time a future world-famous rock star performed at your venue.

The Geneva organization is a franchise of School of Rock, the world's largest and most trusted multi-location music school. Founded as a single school in Philadelphia in 1998, School of Rock now has over 300 locations in 15 different countries.
