According to the Daily Herald, a Friday evening house fire in Campton Hills ended with everyone — including a whole household of pets — making it out safely.

  • Neighbor acted immediately: A nearby resident who is also a firefighter helped get four people out of the home before additional crews arrived.

  • Pets rescued too: Firefighters safely removed two dogs, a guinea pig, four pet rats, and 11 fish from inside the house.

  • Home largely intact: Officials said that most of the house was unaffected, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fire crews were on scene for several hours Friday night, with assistance from neighboring departments, and no injuries were reported.
