Geneva-based Lannert Group is requesting that the city annex a six-acre property on Keslinger Road and rezone it for 21 single-family homes around a farmhouse that dates back to the 1800s.
Annexing the unincorporated Kane County site would officially bring it into Geneva city limits.
Here's what to know:
The historic house: According to Shaw Local, Arthur Fisher sold his farmland for development about 25 years ago, but kept the farmhouse and the surrounding acreage. The house would be preserved under the proposed plan.
A high-density development: The project page shows a request for R4 zoning, which the city classifies as high-density single-family residential. The firm is also seeking variations related to lot coverage, lot width, and setbacks.
The plan for the trees: The property features more than 100 trees planted close together. According to Shaw Local, the plan would include keeping some trees and replacing others.
City staff are reviewing the proposal, and a public hearing before Geneva's Planning and Zoning Commission could be scheduled once that review wraps up.
