A new live music series will bring free acoustic performances to downtown Geneva starting July 5.

Sunday Sidewalk Sessions will place four musicians at spots along Third and State streets every Sunday afternoon through September, organized by the team behind Preservation and Atlas Chicken.

Here's what to know:

  • The setup: Four solo or duo acoustic acts will perform sets at four locations along Third and State, Sundays from 12-3PM, July 5 through September 27. Festival weekends on July 26, August 23 and September 13 will be skipped.

  • Funding and coordination: Council approved a $4,500 Destination Geneva grant to cover costs of $2,500 for program management and $2,000 for musicians. Preservation's experienced music coordinators are booking and scheduling performers.

  • Worth noting: It's not Geneva's first attempt to launch a sidewalk music program. The city ran a similar Outdoor Music Grant from 2012 to 2019, and the Cultural Arts Commission attempted to start its own street performer series with those tourism funds.

The Destination Geneva Grant Program aims to maintain and improve the city’s visitor appeal by providing reimbursement for programs and events that bring visitors to Geneva for unique experiences.
