If you’ve ever considered working at the polls, Kane County is hoping you’ll step up. As part of National Poll Worker Recruitment Day on August 12, County Clerk John A. Cunningham is inviting residents — including students — to apply to serve as election judges for next year’s primary and general elections.

Key things to know:

  • The General Primary Election is March 17, 2026; the General Election is November 3, 2026 (a state holiday in Illinois).

  • Certified election judges earn $250 for working on Election Day.

  • High school students can apply to be student election judges and earn money while learning about the voting process.

  • Details on eligibility, training, and applications are available at clerk.kanecountyil.gov or by calling (630) 232-5990.

Serving as an election judge is a chance to help neighbors vote, support local democracy, and make a little extra cash along the way.
