According to a news release, Kane County Board Chairman Corinne M. Pierog is seeking qualified candidates for the position of County Ethics Advisor, a key role responsible for promoting transparency, accountability and ethical conduct across county government.

The Ethics Advisor is appointed by the Chairman of the Kane County Board for a three-year term, with the advice and consent of the County Board.

The vacancy was created by the retirement of former Judge Grant Wegner, who served in the role since his appointment in 2012.

The position of Ethics Advisor provides guidance to County elected officials and employees on the Kane County Ethics Ordinance, including interpretation of the Code of Conduct, compliance with ethics rules and conflict of interest issues. The advisor also responds to inquiries, conducts ethics training and reviews potential violations or complaints, referring matters to the Ethics Commission.

Minimum qualifications include a juris doctorate or master's degree in public administration and at least five years of relevant professional experience, such as in law, public service, law enforcement, academia or clergy.

Candidates must demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations with a high level of integrity, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Individuals serving as Ethics Advisor may not be an elected official or political candidate, hold an appointment to a public board, or be employed by Kane County.

For a complete list of qualifications, review the Kane County Ethics Ordinance. Compensation is subject to the approval of the County Board.

To apply, submit a cover letter and resume to Jane Tallitsch in the Kane County Board Office at [email protected]. The application deadline is April 30, 2026.
