The Forest Preserve District of Kane County announced its lineup of spring birding programs, scheduled March through May at forest preserves throughout Kane County.
The seasonal “Bird Appreciation” series offers residents opportunities to observe migratory birds, build bird-identification skills, and hear from regional experts.
Most programs are free and many are open to all ages, including guided walks and family-friendly educational activities. Other birding programs are part of the “Learn from the Experts” lecture series designed for ages 18 and above. These in-depth presentations require a $10/person registration fee.
Free & All-Ages Programs
Bird Watching Walks: March 10 (9–10AM) at Fox River Bluff East Forest Preserve; April 22 (9–10AM) at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve; May 15 (9–10AM) at Burnidge Forest Preserve
Birds and Beasts of South Africa: April 26 (9:30–11AM) at Barbara Belding Lodge, Brewster Creek Forest Preserve
Warbler Walk (ages 16+): May 3 (8:30–10AM) at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve
“Learn from the Experts” Programs ($10/person, ages 18+)
Promise or Peril?: March 14 (9:30–11AM) at Barbara Belding Lodge, Brewster Creek Forest Preserve
Bird Friendly Coffee: March 21 (9:30–11AM) at Barbara Belding Lodge, Brewster Creek Forest Preserve
Cryptic Birds of the Night: March 28 (9:30–11AM) at Barbara Belding Lodge, Brewster Creek Forest Preserve
Learning to Bird by Ear: April 19 (1–2:30PM) at Barbara Belding Lodge, Brewster Creek Forest Preserve
