It’s going to be a week of heavy road work in Geneva: South Street will shut down on Monday, Dodson Street will see a parking ban and daytime lane closures through Friday, and the ongoing East State Street reconstruction project will clog up a major intersection.
Here's what to know:
South Street closure: The road closes from Seventh Street to Western Avenue starting at 8AM Monday for an emergency sanitary sewer repair near Geneva Golf Course. A detour runs via Seventh Street, James Street, Kaneville Road and Burgess Road, and crews expect to finish the same day, weather permitting. Local traffic can still reach South Eighth Street and Mead Court.
Dodson Street patching: Public Works is patching asphalt on Dodson Street between Route 25 and Harrison Street all week, working one side of the street at a time. Parking is banned on Dodson until the work wraps up (expected on Friday).
Routes 25 and 38 delays: A second work zone opens Monday on Route 25 south to Spring Street for storm sewer installation, on top of ongoing work at the intersection. Daily lane closures and flaggers will manage traffic on Route 25 during the day, with lanes reopening overnight under steel plates.
State Street progress: Crews are installing sanitary service laterals on the south side of East State Street ahead of storm sewer work near Route 25. That piece of the intersection project is tentatively set to finish Wednesday, July 15, depending on weather.
Route 38 traffic remains shifted to the north side between the Fox River and Kirk Road, one lane open in each direction.
