Covenant Living at the Holmstad announced that its 47th Annual Bazaar is scheduled for Saturday, September 20 from 9AM-3PM.

The annual event allows shoppers to discover everything from wood and needle crafts, designer knits, plants, quilts, baked goods, along with second-hand treasures such as jewelry, furniture, books, and household items.

Laura Lamplough (pictured above), resident of Covenant Living at the Holmstad, loves weaving. She spends countless hours at her loom, with large spools of thread and yarn set up in her apartment at the senior living community.

The table linens she creates and donates to the Holmstad will be on sale at the Bazaar on September 20.

“This is the one thing I do where I completely lose track of time,” said Lamplough. “I don’t have any patterns and just experiment as the pieces evolve. It’s like finger painting, but with yarn.”

Lamplough’s table linens are part of the many unique handcrafted items that will be for sale at the 47th Annual Bazaar. The event has proven popular in the Fox Valley for nearly five decades showcasing the talents of residents.

“What makes the Bazaar possible is the generosity of nearly 300 resident volunteers who give of their time and talent to make this happen each year,” said Dick Sackett, co-chair of the Bazaar.

Ed Lenertz, co-chair of the Bazaar, said it’s exciting to build on the more than 700 shoppers from the greater community who attended last year.

“The funds raised support many initiatives here at The Holmstad, including our Benevolent Care Fund, scholarships and gifts for graduating high school employees, and helping some of our resident-run programs,” he said.

There will also be an opportunity for shoppers to win a cash drawing. Shoppers may pay for items with credit cards, cash or checks.

Some of the items for sale can be previewed at HolmstadBazaar.com.
