The Geneva Chamber of Commerce recently announced their new Chair of the Board as Michael Olesen, owner of Stockholm’s Restaurant & Brewery and Geneva Investment Group. Olesen, a Geneva lifer, originally joined the board in 2011.

Upon graduation from the University of Illinois, Olesen sought employment from independent business owners where he could learn additional skills that would benefit him as an entrepreneur. In 1991, he opened his own business.

Living in the downtown historic district and having worked for downtown businesses since he was 15, Michael’s pride in the Geneva community is strong. He is an active member of the Chamber, having served on the board of Geneva Community Chest for 15 years and still involved in multiple programs and local charities.

“Michael has been a contributing and positive board member for over 10 years. The chamber looks forward to his leadership, creativity and new ideas to lead us into our next chapter,” Paula Schmidt, President of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce.

What is his favorite thing about Geneva? In his own words, “It is home”.
