The Village of Elburn is set to install new pedestrian crosswalks with signs and flashing lights at three intersections along Main Street (Route 47) in the downtown area.

They’ll be located at the North, Shannon and Prairie Valley intersections.

This decision comes after a recent engineering study and feedback from residents concerned about their safety when crossing the increasingly busy street.

While the village initially requested crosswalks at five intersections, two were deemed unsuitable due to a lack of sidewalk development. The new crosswalks will come with legal consequences for drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians.
