Man, I wish my dogs could handle the stimulation of a bustling brewery patio. But even if you can’t bring yours, that doesn’t take the fun away from meeting other local canines who are out for a good time on the town.
Once a somewhat novel concept, dog-friendly bar and brewery patios have become commonplace…especially around the Tri-Cities.
This list* of local patios should prove useful to those of you with socially well-adjusted pets.
*Not an exhaustive list of all dog-friendly patios, but a solid one nonetheless.
Batavia
✔️ Bocaditos Cafe | 11 N. Batavia Ave: This Argentine café near the Batavia Public Library (run by a local mother-daughter team and known for their handmade empanadas) has a sunny outdoor patio where bringing your pup is encouraged.
✔️ Bulldog’s Cellar | 1 E. Wilson Street: A casual spot for karaoke, pool tables and darts, it’s got a sneaky little patio with a fantastic river view.
✔️ Crosstown Pub & Grill | 1890 Mill Street: Famous for its wings, this local spot near the post office just off Randall Road offers a sunny, canine-friendly patio.
✔️ Gammon Coach House | 3 S. Batavia Ave: Tucked inside a historic carriage house downtown, this cozy pub has a dog-friendly patio where craft beer and smash burgers are standard fare.
✔️ Sidecar Supper Club & Beer Garden | 12. N. River Street: Nestled behind the neighborhood eatery and watering hole is a hidden treasure of an outdoor patio with a stage — a must-visit this summer if you’ve never been.
✔️ Windmill Grille & Pizzeria | 90 N. Island Avenue: They just opened a brand-new, sharp-looking patio over Mother’s Day Weekend 2026 — and yes, the pooches are welcome too.
Special note: Sturdy Shelter Brewing in downtown Batavia is planning to open a new deck at some point in late spring or early summer. TBD on its dog friendliness, but keep an eye out for that.
Geneva
✔️ Art History Brewing | 649 W. State Street: Don’t let its inconspicuous location next to Ace Hardware fool you — great company, food trucks, pop-ups, music and dogs create a fun and welcoming patio atmosphere.
✔️ Barrel + Rye | 477 S. 3rd Street: A whiskey-forward bistro in the heart of Geneva's Third Street corridor, with a dog-friendly patio and a menu that punches well above bar food.
✔️ The Burger Local | 577 S. 3rd Street: Not only does the runner-up in Tri-Cities Central “Best Burger” contest have a delicious menu, they’ll serve your thirsty dog a bowl of cold water on their small outdoor patio.
✔️ Geneva Winery & Tasting Room | 426 S. 3rd Street: There’s nothing quite like the atmosphere on the front lawn of Geneva winery with some live music on a sunny, summer day. Bringing the dogs is the cherry on top.
✔️ Preservation | 513 S. 3rd Street: Also along the Third Street corridor you’ll find Preservation’s iconic, all-seasons heated patio — a unique hangout for dogs and humans alike.
✔️ Third Street Station | 300 Crescent Place: A laid-back Geneva bar right next to the Metra station with outdoor seating, cold drinks, and a menu that some locals swear by. Dog sightings are frequent.
✔️ Up North Wine Tasting Room | 9 N. 2nd Street: An elegant and inviting spot that feels like an escape to the lake, Up North is the place to be for award-winning Northern Michigan wines — and the small outdoor patio is an ideal warm-weather hangout (dogs welcome).
St. Charles
✔️ 93 Octane Brewing | 1825 Lincoln Highway: This semi-hidden taproom on Route 38 — conveniently connected to a liquor store and Urban Counter eatery — has an airy indoor/outdoor patio with TVs and weekly live music.
✔️ Alter Brewing & Kitchen | 12 S. 1st Street: One of the few Tri-Cities spots you and your dog can snag a seat right along the Fox River — with easy access to the riverfront trail. It’s a vibe out there.
✔️ Brown Butter Baked Goods & Cafe | 311 N. 2nd Street: A Fox River-adjacent cafe with a comfy indoor space, outdoor seating, and some of the best gluten-free baked goods you'll find anywhere to enjoy with your four-legged friend. (Pro tip: the breakfast burritos are a must-try).
✔️ Evergreen Pub & Grill | 1400 W. Main Street: One of St. Charles' oldest bars has a spacious patio and pavilion area where dogs are not just tolerated — the staff brings water and treats. Live music out back during the summer is a great time.
✔️ Global Brew Tap House | 2100 Prairie Street: One of the Tri-Cities’ more underrated craft beer bars has a spacious patio along Prairie Street (and shuffleboard inside, a huge plus in my book).
✔️ The Filling Station | 300 W. Main Street: Ah, the Filler. A St. Charles institution. And a go-to downtown establishment for folks looking to enjoy a bite, a beer, and some canine companionship.
✔️ Pollyanna Brewing & Distilling | 106 S. Riverside Ave: Downtown riverfront views, amazing beer, live music and food trucks…what more could you want? And they’ve just started construction on a new, permanent patio (May 2026).

✔️ Riverlands Brewing Company | 1860 Dean Street: In my opinion, the best patio to catch a sunset in the Tri-Cities. Fun fact: we brought one of our foster dogs to the Riverlands patio last summer, got to chatting with a local couple, and they adopted her that week.
