As the holidays approach, CHIP IN Batavia is rallying local residents once again to support families in need through two seasonal initiatives — the Blessing Baskets & Furry Friends drive and the Adopt a Bag program.
Both efforts make it easy to give back and ensure that every family in Batavia can celebrate with dignity and comfort this season.
Blessing Baskets: In partnership with Holzl Homes, this initiative requests that folks fill a laundry basket with a full Thanksgiving meal — from turkey to dessert — for a local family in need. Pet food donations are also encouraged so no furry friends are left out. Baskets can be dropped off Tuesday, November 25, at the Batavia Public School District Building (335 W. Wilson St.). Get more details.
Adopt a Bag: Volunteers can also help by donating reusable bags filled with everyday essentials like laundry detergent, toilet paper, and shampoo. Donations will support families adopted by Batavia United Way for Christmas. Bags can be dropped off at Bethany Lutheran Church (8 S. Lincoln St.) between November 29 and December 14 during posted hours. Get more details.
Local impact: Both efforts benefit CHIP IN Batavia, which supports students and families in the Batavia Public School District facing temporary housing challenges or financial hardship.
Every donation — big or small — helps fill a home with warmth, comfort, and community spirit this season.
