Trolley bar crawls and history tours may be familiar to Tri-Cities residents, but this trolley event focuses on a different demographic: literature lovers.
The Chicagoland Bookstore Holiday Trolley is making a special pass through the Tri-Cities this season. One of the 10 routes on this new regional initiative — Route 9 — stops in both St. Charles and Geneva on Saturday, December 20, giving readers a chance to explore local shops, support indie bookstores, and soak up a little seasonal charm along the way.
What to know:
Route 9 runs Saturday, December 20 from 9:30 a.m. to roughly noon, starting and ending at The Bookstore of Glen Ellyn (475 N. Main St.).
Tri-Cities stops include Town House Books & Café (St. Charles) and Harvey’s Tales (Geneva), with additional visits to Yellow Bird Books (Aurora) and back to Glen Ellyn.
The holiday trolley is part of a regional effort by the Chicagoland Independent Bookstore Alliance to lift up indie bookstores during a challenging retail season.
Every stop features curated picks, gifts, and holiday touches, making it a fun way to support small shops while knocking out last-minute gifting.
