A series of disruptive parties with loud music and hundreds of guests near the corner of Conners Road and Route 47 in Campton Hills this summer has escalated beyond simple noise complaints (which have been frequent on Friday and Saturday nights).
At the Sept. 1 village board meeting, the police chief told officials that a residence has been hosting events with between 200 and 300 people in attendance. He also said a promoter has been charging admission fees and selling food and alcohol without a license.
Here's what to know:
Tickets haven’t stopped it: The police chief said the department has issued eight citations so far, with fines that keep increasing, but that hasn’t been effective in shutting the parties down.
Owners met with police: The chief said police met with the property's owners and explained how the situation needs to be corrected. He said the couple's adult children, who are in their early 20s, live at the house and have been hosting the parties.
Illegal activity: The chief said that a resident sent in a social media tip that people were paying for admission and that food and alcohol were being sold without a license, which would mean there are bigger legal issues than loud music and lights at play.
The chief said he's working with the village attorney and administrator to figure out next steps.
