Are you seeking meaningful ways to give back and make a difference in the Tri-Cities community? An upcoming Volunteer Fair in Batavia offers an ideal opportunity to explore volunteer roles with local nonprofit organizations.

The event will take place Thursday, May 9, from 2-7PM at the Batavia Public Library.

Organized by the Batavia Chamber of Commerce, this event aims to connect passionate residents with organizations in dire need of extra hands. From helping at events and providing meals to assisting with animal rescues and offering transportation services, there's a wide range of volunteer opportunities with 35 local nonprofits to suit different interests and schedules.

“Many individuals, particularly young people, often express a desire to volunteer within their community but struggle to find out how to do so,” said Margaret Perreault, President & CEO of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce. “Our upcoming volunteer fair presents an excellent opportunity for them to explore various options for involvement.”

Helping nonprofits help people in need

Over a series of recent meetings, a local nonprofit forum identified a significant need for volunteers. Organizations like Lazarus House, AID, Literacy Volunteers, Batavia RSVP, Fox Valley Hands of Hope and many more need help to support their crucial missions.

The Volunteer Fair promises to be a lively and informative event, with more than 30 nonprofits setting up booths to showcase their volunteer roles. Attendees can explore various opportunities, learn about each organization's mission and find the perfect fit for their skills and passions.

In addition to showcasing a diverse array of nonprofit organizations, the Volunteer Fair will also feature the League of Women Voters of Central Kane County, who will be on-site to register voters.

Flyleaf Bakery Cafe will remain open throughout the event offering snacks and refreshments.

For more information, please contact Patti Anselme, special events coordinator for the Batavia Chamber of Commerce at (630) 879-7134, Ext. 2 or [email protected]. Vendor booths for nonprofit organizations are still available as well.
