After years of planning and renovation, Batavia’s brand-new Patrick J. Callahan Community Center is nearly ready to open its doors.

The public is invited to the grand opening on Saturday, August 9. The event runs from 8AM to noon at 150 Houston Street, with a ribbon cutting at 10:30AM.

Here’s what to know:

  • The 12,940-square-foot facility includes program spaces, a museum annex, and administrative offices.

  • Construction began in early 2024 on the community center, which will offer indoor recreation programs for all ages, plus house Batavia Access Television and Depot Museum exhibits.

  • The $5.9 million project was funded through a $2.8 million state grant, a $430K donation from the Batavia Historical Society, and existing Park District funds.

Named in honor of longtime Park Board President Pat Callahan, the new space is centrally located near the Riverwalk and Fox River Trail — a welcome addition to downtown Batavia.
