Summer has officially wrapped up, and Batavia’s farmers market is heading inside for the colder months.

Starting Saturday, Oct. 31, more than 20 local vendors will set up at Sturdy Shelter Brewing (10 S. Shumway Ave.) from 9AM to noon, and the market will continue on Saturdays through mid-May.

Here’s what to know:

  • Who’s selling: Returning vendors include Mighty Greens Farm, Fox Flower Farm, and Vargo Brothers Ferments. Newcomers include Local Pastures (meat from Midwest farms where animals are raised on pasture), Amarillo Cafe y Matcha (horchata coffee drinks and matcha), and Alden Kitchen (fresh bread, small-batch jams, and pantry staples).

  • Only homegrown stuff: Vendors have to make or raise at least three-quarters of what they’re selling themselves, so most of what you buy comes straight from the source.

  • Breakfast while you shop: Sturdy Shelter will pour beer, bloody marys, and mimosas, Fernando’s Street Kitchen will serve Mexican-inspired breakfast plates, and the upstairs mezzanine will be open for seating.

  • SNAP and Link Match: The market accepts SNAP benefits, and shoppers can double their benefits on fresh, local fruits and vegetables through Link Match, which is funded by a federal grant.

The weekly vendor lineup gets posted on Facebook. Learn more on Batavia MainStreet’s website.
