Batavia’s cozy library café is winding down.
According to social media posts, Flyleaf Bakery Cafe, located inside the Batavia Public Library with outdoor patio seating, will close at the end of December.
Key things to know:
Final month in operation: According to the posts, Flyleaf will close at the end of December as the owner steps into retirement.
Long-time cafe space: The space previously housed Chapters Coffeehouse and Café, which appears to have closed in 2020 during the pandemic. Flyleaf reopened under new ownership in December 2021.
Last chance to enjoy local art: December’s featured artist is Batavia’s own Lissa Rose Brown, whose 5x5 nature photos are available for purchase at the cafe.
Equipment for sale: Flyleaf is selling its café equipment and inviting offers through direct message or email.
The library has not yet announced plans for what will replace the café. The library requested proposals from experienced operators to establish and operate a café back in April 2021, so perhaps a similar approach will be taken in 2026.
