🏛️ A flurry of activity from Batavia City Council
The latest Batavia City Council meeting featured several notable developments:
Ashton Ridge SSA: The city plans to establish a new Special Service Area (SSA) for the forthcoming Ashton Ridge subdivision. This would serve as a dormant, tax-funded backup plan in case the subdivision's homeowners association fails to maintain common areas and infrastructure. Residents can provide feedback on the proposed SSA at a public hearing in October.

Public Art: City Council also approved the Batavia Mural Series initiative. If all goes according to plan, local artists will transform the boarded windows on the Government Building’s east side into beautiful murals visible from the river and Riverwalk.
Key building redevelopment: By purchasing a property at 330-338 Webster Street for $550K using TIF funds, the city will be able to remodel (or demolish) the dilapidated building on the site. This way, the city can develop the property to align with the vision of its long-term Downtown Plan.
Officials also approved the “road diet” project — more on that below.

It’s not live music, but thought it was worth noting that Bogart’s in St. Charles is hosting “Emo Night” tomorrow at 8:30PM. If, like me, listening to bangers from your angsty millennial youth fills you with gleeful nostalgia, perhaps you should consider a visit.
Oh, and here’s the full weekend lineup of live music performances across the Tri-Cities.
