Starting October 1, Geneva will turn into an open-air gallery as the Geneva Foundation for the Arts launches Terrain, a community art event. The program runs through November 15 and places original and ready-made artwork on front lawns, porches, balconies, windows, and even rooftops across the city.
Neighborhood pop-ups: Residents are teaming up with artists to host installations, which will be scattered throughout Geneva and visible to anyone strolling through.
Kickoff celebration: The first weekend includes a block party on Saturday, October 4, from 11AM-2PM at 328 N. 2nd Street. The event will feature live music, artist-donated crafts for sale, and a cash-only raffle. Guests are invited to bring their own beverages and a dish to share.
Walking tour: A free guided walking (or driving) tour of downtown art sites will leave from the block party at 11:15AM covering about three miles.
Map on the way: A full map of host sites and participating artists will be posted soon at genevafoundationforthearts.org.
With art pieces popping up in unexpected corners of the community, Terrain aims to blend everyday life and creative expression in ways that neighbors can stumble upon and enjoy.
