One of last year's Batavia Boardwalk Shops is putting down roots. Literally.
A Rooted Home, which debuted as a seasonal pop-up in 2025, is opening a permanent storefront at 237 W. Wilson in downtown Batavia. There are two chances to stop in before the official Grand Opening later this month.
Here's what to know:
First Look event: It’s happening this Saturday, March 21, 11AM-5PM — and it lines up with downtown Batavia's Step Into Spring Wine Walk (1-5PM), so it's easy to make a full afternoon of it.
Grand Opening: The event will be held on Saturday, March 28, 10AM-5PM at 237 W. Wilson.
What the shop’s known for: Timeless, heirloom-quality home goods with a warm, curated aesthetic, plus interior design services for those who want a more hands-on approach.
The Boardwalk connection: A Rooted Home was part of the 2025 Boardwalk lineup, the city's program that gives emerging local businesses a low-risk launchpad in downtown Batavia. A permanent storefront is exactly the kind of outcome the program is designed to produce.
“Your home should be a safe place to land,” owner Michelle Krol said before the start of last year’s Boardwalk Shop season. “It could be a cozy little spot, the way a room makes you feel or a scent. It’s about bringing all of those things together.”
A Rooted Home joins a growing list of Boardwalk alumni that have made the jump to permanent downtown locations.
